CoT KML Server is a lightweight middleware that converts Cursor on Target (CoT) event streams into live KML/KMZ layers for visualization in Google Earth and other KML-compatible map clients. It helps teams gain real-time situational awareness by rendering unit locations, tracks, and georeferenced events with clear symbology and aging rules, so maps stay informative without becoming cluttered.

Key features:

  • Real-time translation of CoT feeds to KML/KMZ
  • Live updates via KML network links for continuous map refresh
  • Filtering by callsign, type, team, or geographic area
  • Customizable icons, labels, and movement trails
  • Automatic aging and cleanup of stale positions and events
  • Works with TCP/UDP/multicast CoT sources and common operating systems

Typical uses include exercises and training, incident response, live operations, and lab environments where a simple, read-only KML view is needed alongside the TAK/CoT ecosystem. Not affiliated with Google or the TAK Product Center.

CoT KML Server is developed by Cursor on Target. The most popular version of this product among our users is 1.0. The name of the program executable file is kmld.exe.
